Menopause is not a disease, it is a transition. There’s no pill that a man (woman) could take for it, as well as your emotional and spiritual well-being, especially your self-confidence as you get older and your changing role as the kids leave the house.

In Japan, for example, they don’t have a word for menopause because middle-aged women are very much appreciated. It is not seen as a negative phase, but as a positive transition in which women are older, yes, but also wiser.
Life happens, that will never change. But what we can do is learn to respond differently to these situations as we see them, to change our own personal behavior and how we think and feel about it.

Your body does not know the difference between imagination and reality, so imagining that you can control your hot flashes depends on what you experience.

Rather than grieve over this inevitable transitional period in life, remember some of the positive changes in life that come from menopause. Of course, we can celebrate the fact that we leave periods and PMS behind. Remember too, that this can be one of the most fulfilling times of your life.

Many women use this opportunity to redefine their roles, discover new interests, think about their blessings, and plan for an exciting future. If you are a parent, after years of first meeting your children’s needs, for a while, you can think about what you want to do with this next phase of life.
